Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector strives to welcome 2.8 million tourists in 2010, an increase of 7% over that of last year.
The target was set in the sector’s plan for tourism development recently made public.
Accordingly, the number of domestic visitors is set to increase by 15% - 20%. The total revenue of the sector is expected to reach VND 40,000 billion, up 15%. The focal task of the sector during the year is to implement the tourism promotion programme named ‘Vietnam – Your Destination’ which targets both international and domestic visitors.
Focus will also put on the improvement of tourism services and human resource training.
The city’s Tourism Association is also asked to closely co-operate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to successfully carry out promotion campaigns and make full use of potentials of travel agents, thus contributing to the development of the sector.
